Photography: Explorations of Deeper Truths

What is photography? Is it the picture, the light, the shadow, the posture or the pose?… No. Photography is about paying extreme attention.

As photographers, we are entrusted with the almost impossible task of capturing a moment at a tenth, hundredth, or even a thousandth of a second. This truth is elevated by the fact that the human brain requires at least 1/15th of a second to analyze what the human eye is seeing.

Do such abilities mean we are somehow superhuman?… No, it simply means the photographer is highly sensitive. Highly attuned to the moments most people would quickly look away from and dismiss. This is sensibility. This is caring.

A photographer must care deeply for that which he/she holds camera to. For if they do not… They will never see the picture.
